Pita Bread Crisps
Makes: 4 full oven trays from one 6 pack of large Lebanese breads.
These are super easy to make and serve with dips. They are also great to have as a light alternative to bread with soups.
Ingredients
1 x 6 pack large Lebanese breads
75 grams butter - melted
2 cloves garlic - crushed
Sesame seeds - if using
Method
Preheat the oven to 180’C
Melt the butter and add the garlic
Separate each of the Lebanese breads into 2 halves. This is easiest done by gently pulling them apart at one spot on the margin and then gently tearing along the edge, so you end up with 2 equal flat circles of the bread.
Working one piece at a time and using a pastry brush, gently coat the surface that would have been on the inside of the pocket of bread with butter
Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if using
Stack in a pile until all pieces of bread are coated
Slice through the pile, first into 2 halves then continue until you have made 4 cuts across the middle, as if you were slicing a pizza
Arrange the crisps in a single layer on a baking tray
Put in the oven for 5 minutes or until crisp and golden brown
Allow to cool on a wire rack
Store in an airtight container
